Shillong, Oct 7: Congress candidate from Mawryngkneng for the upcoming bye-elections, Highlander Kharmalki, on Thursday filed his nomination papers to the Returning Officer at DC office, Shillong.
He was accompanied by his family members.
Speaking to reporters, Kharmalki said the differences between the senior party leaders will not affect the bye-election in Mawryngkneng.
On asked about the split in Mawryngkneng Congress, Kharmalki said it will give him the upper hand as the section that has split from Congress, instead of supporting the NPP, will support the Independent candidate Nobert Mawroh.
If elected, Kharmalki said his priority is to take up issues concerning the transportation, agriculture and rural development in the state.
On the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP), the Congress candidate said he doesn’t have anything to say on it but he is satisfied with the present setting in the State.
