Shillong, Dec 20: The state government has announced a comprehensive reshuffle of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and Meghalaya Police Service (MPS) officials, effective January 1, 2026.
The notification issued by Commissioner & Secretary in-charge Home (Police) Cyril VD Diengdoh on Friday said Davis N. Rangsa Marak, IPS (RR 2008) has been promoted and posted as Inspector General of Police (L&O), Shillong and Aditya Goenka, IPS (RR 2008) as Inspector General of Police, CID, Shillong.
Vivekanand Singh, IPS (RR 2012) has been promoted and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range), Shillong, replacing Davis N. Rangsa Marak while Sylvester Nongtnger, IPS (SPS 2012) –as Deputy Inspector General of Police (Security), Shillong.
Rituraj Ravi, IPS (RR 2013) has been promoted and transferred as Senior Superintendent of Police, TAP, Shillong, succeeding Sylvester Nongtnger.
Promotions to Junior Administration Grade (Senior Scale, Level 12)
Six officers were promoted to junior administration grade: Giri Prasad M, IPS (RR 2017) – transferred as Superintendent of Police, Ri‑Bhoi District, Nongpoh, Nangkiew K. Syiem, IPS (SPS 2017) – continues as Superintendent of Police (R/PR), Shillong, Maxwell B. Syiem, IPS (SPS 2017) – continues as Superintendent of Police, AID, Shillong, Lakador Syiem, IPS (SPS 2017) – continues as Administrative Officer, Meghalaya Police Academy, Umran, Bobby S. W Momin, IPS (SPS 2017) – continues as Superintendent of Police, SB‑I, Meghalaya, Shillong and Goldenbert D. Kharmawphlang, IPS (SPS 2017) – continues as Superintendent of Police, ATS, Shillong.
Promotions to Senior Time Scale (Senior Scale, Level 11)
Four officers promoted to senior time scale include: Shivangi Goel, IPS (RR 2022), Saurav Kumar Saini, IPS (RR 2022), Lovish Garg, IPS (RR 2022) and Ashu Pant, IPS (RR 2022)
Their post‑promotion postings include roles such as Deputy Commandant and Additional Superintendent of Police in various districts and battalions.
Several MPS officers were reassigned in the interest of public service:
Bikram D. Marak, MPS – transferred as Assistant Inspector General of Police (E), Shillong, Lethindra Sangma, MPS – moved to Superintendent of Police, AID, Tura, Rupam R. Marak, MPS – posted as Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Tura, Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, MPS – transferred as Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin, Feroz Rehman, MPS – reassigned as Superintendent of Police, EOW, Shillong, Ialamlad Kharkongor, MPS – transferred as Deputy Commandant, 3rd MLP Bn, Sahbsein, Gilbert Armstrong Lyngdoh Marshillong, MPS – posted as Additional Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin, Basant Kumar Mishra, MPS – moved to Deputy Superintendent of Police, CCW, CID, Shillong and Santosh Kumar, MPS – transferred as Deputy Superintendent of Police, CBPS, Eastern Range, Shillong.
