Shillong, Nov19: Over Rs 87 crore has been sanctioned for the 28 kilometers Ampati-Purakhasia road under Gambegre constituency, chief minister Conrad K Sangma said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a gathering, Sangma said, “We have sanctioned Rs 7. 46 crore under the state scheme for the 0-4 km stretch, with 50% of the work completed. For the 5th-20th km, Rs 13.78 crore lakhs is sanctioned under PMGSY, with 15% of the work completed. The last stretch, from the 21st-28th km, is funded by the World Bank to the tune of Rs 66 crore”

The chief minister clarified that the last stretch cannot be completed under state or central schemes, highlighting the complexity of the project.
“I am personally monitoring and reviewing the construction of the road,” he added, assuring the community of his commitment to the project.
