Meghalaya wins one gold, two silver at SKOCH Awards

Shillong, Jan 11: Meghalaya has secured one Gold and two Silver awards at the prestigious SKOCH Awards, reinforcing the state’s growing national recognition for innovation, inclusive governance and community-driven development.

The Gold Award was conferred on the Mushroom Development Centre, Upper Shillong, for its outstanding work as a Shiitake Production and Training Centre, enabling livelihood generation, skill development and sustainable agriculture.

Two Silver Awards went to the Malai C&RD Block for its impactful grassroots, community-led development initiatives, and to the Directorate of Tourism’s Nongwar Tourism Project, recognised for promoting sustainable, community-based tourism while preserving local culture and natural heritage.

Reacting to the achievement, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the awards were a proud moment for the state and a reflection of people-centric governance. He congratulated all departments, field officials and community stakeholders involved, stating that the recognition highlights Meghalaya’s focus on innovation, sustainability and inclusive growth that directly benefits citizens.

The National People’s Party (NPP) also hailed the honours as a significant milestone, noting that the awards demonstrate coordinated governance and effective implementation of development programmes at the grassroots level.

“This achievement reflects dedicated efforts across sectors and stands as a testament to impactful governance under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma” the party said.

The SKOCH Awards are among India’s leading platforms recognising excellence in governance, public service delivery and socio-economic development.
