SHILLONG, JAN 10: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong celebrated its ‘Adyant’ convocation ceremony, marking the graduation of military families from the Management Essentials 2025 program. The program, a collaboration between IIM Shillong and MILVEST, aims to equip military families with business management skills, facilitating their transition into the corporate world.
Lieutenant General Mohit Wadhwa SM, GOC 101 Area, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, alongside Dr. Naliniprava Tripathy, Director of IIM Shillong, and Captain (IN) Vinay Singh, Founder of MILVEST.
Lt Gen Wadhwa praised the program’s inclusivity, stating, “MILVEST is a ‘National Asset’ as it preserves the dignity of the military community by preparing them for a rapidly changing global landscape.” He encouraged graduates to remain ‘Adyant’, always embracing new beginnings.
The Management Essentials 2025 program is a 100-hour online certificate course, featuring 67 sessions delivered by IIM faculty. Participants underwent rigorous training, meeting strict criteria, including 70% attendance and weekly assignments.
Captain (IN) Vinay Singh expressed gratitude for institutional support, noting the initiative’s charitable mission to empower military families.
The program has skilled over 2000 military families, with 1500 participants receiving certificates.
The ceremony recognized Project Deepak, a joint initiative by MILVEST and Sambhav-Kadam Foundation, providing professional skills to armed forces families. This project addresses a critical gap in career-transition tools, offering structured learning pathways.
The 2025 cohort comprises a diverse cross-section of the Armed Forces, including officers, other ranks, military spouses, and wards of military personnel.
