The inauguration was attended by prominent public representatives, including West Shillong MLA Bah Paul Lyngdoh and Rajya Sabha MP Dr W R Kharlukhi, who formally opened the centre in the presence of local elders, Dorbar leaders, church representatives, and residents.

Designed as a G+2 structure, the facility features a parking area on the ground floor, an administrative block and conference hall on the first floor, and a banquet hall on the second floor, making it a comprehensive venue for meetings, events, and community programmes.

The project was supported through funding from the Department of Arts & Culture, Government of Meghalaya, with the sanctioned amount issued in 2023. However, the Dorbar Shnong informed that the final construction cost rose to ₹2.47 crore, exceeding the original sanction of ₹2.30 crore.

The Dorbar Shnong stated that the project was implemented and executed entirely by Dorbar Shnong Qualapatty, underscoring the capacity of local community institutions to deliver public infrastructure.

Addressing the gathering, Dr W R Kharlukhi lauded the initiative and credited the Dorbar Shnong for its unity and commitment in completing the project, emphasising the vital role of community-driven institutions in preserving Meghalaya’s identity and heritage.

Bah Paul Lyngdoh praised the Dorbar Shnong’s planning and timely execution, describing the project as an example of “effective community leadership.” He also recalled the historic significance of Qualapatty, referring to the legacy of late J J M Nichols Roy, founder of the Sixth Schedule, and noted that India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had once visited and been hosted in the locality—highlighting Qualapatty’s deep roots in Meghalaya’s political and cultural journey.

Adding a cultural touch to the inauguration, the Shillong Chamber Choir performed the hymn “To God Be The Glory,” drawing warm appreciation from the audience.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by W Pyrbot, Assistant Rangbah Shnong.
