MI-17 chopper airlifts crashed chopper from Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath

Guwahati, Aug 31: An MI-17 chopper airlifted a defective helicopter from Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath to Gauchar after it accidentally fell from mid-air as the towing rope snapped on Saturday morning.

According to reports, the helicopter which was operated by a private company crashed near the Mandakini River un Lincholi.

No one was injured in the accident.

The chopper was earlier involved in ferrying passengers to Kedarnath temple.

Since July 31, due to extensive damage caused by heavy rain to the trek route to Himalayan temple, there has been a sharp drop in the number of pilgrims going to Kedarnath.
