Minor girl allegedly raped in a tea garden area in Assam

Dibrugarh, Nov 4: A minor girl was allegedly raped by three persons under Bordubi police station in eastern Assam Tinsukia district.

According to reports, the incident happened on Monday, when the girl was returning back to her home from school.

The girl was found unconscious in a tea garden area under Bordubi police station.

“Yesterday, the victim was returning back from her school at around 3 pm. Three youths riding a motorcycle, abducted the girl and took her to a tea garden area, and allegedly raped her. We found the girl in a tea garden area and her condition was very bad. We took her to Bordubi police station. After that, she was taken to hospital for treatment,” said a relative of the victim.

Confirming the development, a senior police officer of Tinsukia said, “A incident of alleged rape has been reported in Bordubi area and we are investigating the case,”.

The villagers and relatives of the victim gathered at the Bordubi police station seeking justice for the victim.

The family members of the victim filed an FIR at Bordubi police station.

“Four to five such incidents have been reported in Bordubi area in the last one year. The administration should take immediate steps to stop such atrocities against women. We demand the culprits should be immediately nabbed, and strict action should be taken against them,” said a member of All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union.
