Baghmara, Juky 19: A heinous crime was committed on a 14-year-old minor girl who was forcibly taken away by four men on Sunday and sexually assaulted in Nangalbibra region of South Garo Hills.
The district police, who rescued the girl during patrolling, swiftly conducted an operation and managed to arrest all four rapists on Monday morning.
The uncle of the victim filed a police complaint that her niece went on Sunday night to buy candles from a store in the village and it was during her journey to the shop that two young men in a motorbike intercepted her and forcibly took her to a deserted school in the old Coal India complex area near the Simsang river. They were joined by another two men who came on foot after being called over phone by the bikers.
The four men sexually assaulted her during the night and took her to the village graveyard near the road to commit the heinous crime again when a police patrol party from Rongsa Awe anti-dacoity camp conducting night patrol came on the scene after spotting movement in the cemetery.
“Our patrol party from Rongsa Awe AD camp was conducting night patrol when they noticed suspicious movement in the graveyard. When they approached the place the accused fled from the scene leaving the girl behind. She was taken for medical examination and a search was immediately launched for the culprits. All four are now in police custody,” informed South Garo Hills SP, Rituraj Ravi.
