Shillong, Sept 1: The minor girl who went missing from her house in South West Khasi Hills district has been traced to Maheshkhola village in South Garo Hills district.

She was traced on Tuesday along with her alleged kidnapper Mohibul Ali, who is said to be resident of Kantapara, Assam. Police have taken Ali into custody while the girl has been handed over to her family.

Also, the case appears to be of elopement instead of earlier alleged kidnapping, but the police said they are investigating the case.

On August 28, 2021, the  family of the 14-year-old girl had filed an FIR with the Nonghyllam police station stating that the minor girl went missing from their residence at 6.45 pm from their village. They also stated that they suspect their daughter was kidnapped by Ali, whom they described a Bangladeshi national.
