Kohima, June 23: The Tenyimi Union Nagaland on Tuesday elected a new leadership team headed by K.T. Vilie as president for the 2026-2029 tenure, while reaffirming its commitment to fostering unity and promoting collective progress among the Tenyimi tribes.
The new team was announced during the union’s first Annual General Session held at the Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) Badze in Meriema under the theme, “Progressive Society through Unity.”
The session brought together tribal apex bodies, youth, women and student organisations from across the Tenyimi community to deliberate on issues concerning regional development and community welfare.
Nagaland Power and Parliamentary Affairs Minister K. G. Kenye attended the event as the special guest, while Women Resource Development and Horticulture Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse was the guest of honour.
Community leader Vilelie Khamo attended as patron. Advisor for NSDMA and Inland Waterways, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, delivered a special address, while outgoing TUN president Kekhwengulo Lea outlined the union’s vision of strengthening solidarity among the Tenyimi people.
Speakers at the session underscored that greater unity among the Tenyimi tribes was essential for social, cultural and developmental progress and called for stronger cooperation among various community organisations.
Outgoing and first TUN president Kekhwengulo Lea congratulated the newly elected team and expressed confidence that the new leadership would take the organisation forward and further strengthen the bonds within the Tenyimi community.
