Shillong, July 22: The prestigious beauty pageant ‘Miss Meghalaya’ has returned after a gap of two years, allowing aspiring young models of the State to compete for the title of “Miss Meghalaya 2022” as well as giving wings to their modeling career.

Mentionably, the beauty pageant could not be held for the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The announcement was made by Miss Meghalaya Organization head Aakriti Shen who is also the reigning Miss Meghalaya. She said this time the beauty pageant will provide a lot of opportunities for the aspiring girls to compete for the title of Miss Meghalaya 2022.

Shen said that the Miss Meghalaya will be in the month of September 2022 and through this aspiring young girls can also get training for the North East Beauty Pageant which will be held later this year in Nagaland.

“Miss Meghalaya this year coincides with Golden Jubilee Celebration of Statehood, therefore our main focus and the theme of the pageant will revolve around the celebration” said Shen.

She added that the auditions for the beauty pageant contest will be held on August 20, 2022, at Youth Hostel Lower Lachumiere from 10 AM onwards.

When asked on the criteria for participating in the beauty pageant, Shen said that all participants should be citizen of Meghalaya with a minimum height of 5.3 feet, below the age of 25 years, and should be unmarried.

“There are attractive cash prizes which includes Rs. 1 lakh for the winner, Rs. 50,000 for the 1st runner up and Rs. 25,000 for the 2nd runner up, besides the attractive cash prizes for various sub titles,” she added.

Shen also stated that both the winner and the 1st runner up will get a chance to represent Meghalaya in the Miss Northeast 2022 beauty pageant which will be held in Kohima, Nagaland in October 2022.
