Mizoram CM says opposition parties have no issue against MNF govt

Aizawl, Oct 10: After the announcement of Mizoram assembly polls, Mizoram chief minister and ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) president Zoramthanga clearly stated that the opposition parties do not have any reasonable issues to blame the MNF-led government.

While addressing the party workers at the MNF party office, Zoramthanga said the opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) do not have issues to blame the ruling party (MNF) and that’s why it is asking people to experiment with a new political system it has preached.

“Many martyrs’ cemeteries all across the state are a manifestation of the MNF fighting for independence of Mizos and no other party has such sacrifice for the cause of the Mizos,” he stated.

He further said, “The MNF not only from 2018, it governed the state for many years earlier and people already experienced the party’s good governance. There is no scope for any kind of experiment.”

Zoramthanga further said that the MNF since 1966 had fought for the independence and all round welfare of Mizos despite allegations from some quarters that the MNF did not really fight for independence.

The ZPM, which won eight seats in the 2018 assembly polls, emerged as the main opposition party replacing Congress, and would play a vital role in the November 7 elections to the 40-member Mizoram assembly.
