Must read

Tura, July 26: Monica D Momin also famous as Monica Singer for her hit song “Tik tok, tik tok” has been taken into custody by women police for questioning in Tura in connection with an FIR lodged against her by traders who were harassed by her for the past few weeks.

She was picked up from her house at Chengkurigre village, near Tura, and taken to women police station for questioning on Tuesday morning.

The story relates to weeks of harassment on traders by the singer and her group who have been allegedly undertaking forcible inspections of shops and seizing items, including tobacco items, saying they do not have license to sell them.

There are also complaints of traders being coerced by her and her group to join their organisation with an alleged threat of not being allowed to do business unless they join her organisation. It is alleged that she is compelling traders to do trade solely through her husband with a threat of restriction unless they comply.

Her husband, a former militant identified as Nigam has meanwhile gone absconding following Monica’s detention for questioning.
