Shillong, Apr 22: Janepih Youth SCA halted Maram FC’s winning streak in the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5), while Khimusniang SC and Mawlum Tyrsad SCC registered victories in their respective fixtures on Tuesday.
In Williamnagar (Group G), Janepih defeated Maram 3-0 to hand them their first loss of the tournament after two successive wins. Goals from Edyson Iawphniaw (26’), Alphascius Sangriang (30’) and Wankuparlang Khardiengngan (65’) secured a comfortable victory and extended Janepih’s own winning run.
In Shillong (Group A), Khimusniang SC came from behind to beat Mawshun SCC 3-1 at the SSA Stadium. Mawshun had taken the lead through Arkhangel Khongtyngkut (31’), but Khimusniang responded quickly with an equaliser from Civility Khongmalai (33’). Primrose Lamat (65’) and Lamborki Lyngdoh (74’) then completed the turnaround.
At the MFA Ground (Group B), Mawlum Tyrsad SCC secured a 4-2 win over Mulang SC Nongbah in a match that saw a dominant start and a tense middle phase. Mawlum raced to a 3-0 lead within 22 minutes through Banshem Khongsit (5’), Marcellino Khongsit (11’) and Pyndapborlang Khongsit (22’ P). Mulang fought back with an own goal (44’) and a strike from Woldrik Susngi (46’), but Mawlum sealed the result late through Ebetstar Nongbet (88’).
Elsewhere, Mawten SC defeated Mawlarshong SC 3-1 in Mawkyrwat (Group H), with Charles Lyngdoh scoring in the third minute—one of the fastest goals of the season. Oversharp Iawphniaw (57’) and Debenroy Thongnibah (90’+4) added to the tally, while Hopefullness Wanniang (82’) scored a late consolation.
The day also saw the first goalless draws of the season. Amlarem SC and Laskein SCSC played out a 0-0 stalemate in Group C, while Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC and Thangskai Tiger SC were also held 0-0 in a closely contested Group D derby in Khliehriat.
The league will continue on Wednesday with a Group G clash between Attong Matgrik FC and Balmanduri FC in Williamnagar, scheduled for a 3 pm kick-off.
