Shillong, Apr 20: Shillong Lajong FC and Rangdajied United FC continued their strong runs in the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5) with comfortable victories, while Umlakro SC edged a narrow win and Ladthadlaboh SC staged a late comeback to salvage a draw on Monday.
In Wahiajer (Group E), Shillong Lajong FC overcame Lamyrsiang SCC 3-1 in a competitive contest. Hamedamanbha Wahlang (27’) opened the scoring before Lalmuansanga (46’) and Deibormame Tongper (63’) extended the lead. Lamyrsiang briefly threatened through Eborki Marsharing’s stoppage-time goal in the first half (45’+2), but Lajong maintained control thereafter.
Rangdajied United FC, champions in 2023, secured a 3-1 victory over Seng Samla Umdang Pyllun in Mawkyrwat (Group H). Pasborlang Khonglikong (9’), Phibankhrawbok Nongkhlaw (31’) and Khainkupar Iawphniaw (62’) put Rangdajied firmly ahead before Rangkynsaistar Mawsor (86’) pulled one back late for Umdang Pyllun.
In Mairang (Group F), Umlakro SC registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over Mishon SSCC, with Jewelstar R Marak scoring the decisive goal early in the sixth minute. The result marked Mishon’s second consecutive defeat.
Williamnagar (Group G) saw A’chik SCO Rongjeng defeat Attong Matgrik FC 3-0, with all goals coming in the second half through Perioush N Sangma (50’) and Klubarth M Sangma (66’, 72’). It was Attong Matgrik’s second straight loss in the tournament.
The only drawn match of the day came in Khliehriat (Group D), where Ladthadlaboh SC fought back from two goals down to hold Jalaphet Moochut Pyrdung SC 2-2. Jalaphet had taken control with quick goals from Thomas Dkhar (57’) and Briwon Dkhar (59’), but Ladthadlaboh responded through substitutes Andrew Nanghuloo (71’ P) and Evening Tariang (90’+1) to rescue a point.
