Shillong, Feb 16: A dinner would usually not be a subject of discussion, least in public domain, but the dinner between the now suspended Congress MLAs and All India Trinamool Congress (AICC) legislators is going to be talk of the town in the current politically charged setting.
AICC leader and former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma has invited the 5 Congress legislators for a dinner, after the latter were suspended by MPCC for their anti-party activities by joining the NPP-led MDA government.
Despite CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh maintaining that a dinner with a colleague or former colleague does not tantamount to any commitment of any kind, the fact that she acknowledged the dinner invite alludes to the political importance of the matter.
“We don’t want to comment at this point of time but yes just now we have been invited for dinner by Dr Mukul,” she said.
At the same time, she mentioned that “we are focusing on the interest of the 5 and the group of 5, we do not want to divulge anything because right now it’s important for us to consider our options.”
On the other hand, Dr. Sangma said that he had invited the five legislators for discussion on issues concerning the people and the state.
According to him, there is a need to always discuss and deliberate among colleagues and explore the possibilities of aggregating their potentialities.
