Zunheboto, July 14: Nagaland University, in collaboration with NABARD, launched a Poultry Input Distribution Programme aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods through backyard poultry farming at the University’s Lumami campus in Zunheboto district on Tuesday.
The programme seeks to strengthen rural livelihoods by encouraging backyard poultry farming as a source of supplementary income, improved nutrition, and self-employment for local communities.
Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof. Jagadish K. Patnaik, attended the programme as the chief guest and interacted with officials and beneficiaries.

The initiative brought together representatives from NABARD, Dimapur, university officials, and beneficiaries from the surrounding areas.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Patnaik highlighted the importance of backyard poultry farming in enhancing rural livelihoods and empowering households through sustainable agricultural practices.
He encouraged beneficiaries to make effective use of the poultry inputs to improve their income and food security.
Officials stated that the programme forms part of Nagaland University’s ongoing efforts, in partnership with NABARD, to support rural development and promote livelihood opportunities through community-based initiatives.
The event concluded with the distribution of poultry inputs to beneficiaries, reaffirming the commitment of Nagaland University and NABARD to fostering sustainable and inclusive rural development in Nagaland.
