In an effort to raise awareness about drug abuse and illicit trafficking while fostering a tranquil atmosphere, the West Garo Hills District has declared June 26, 2023 (Monday) as a ‘No Honking Day’ from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The proclamation of this special day aligns with the significance of the ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.’ It serves as a reminder of the importance of collective action in combating drug-related issues. With the aim of promoting consciousness and making a positive impact, the district seeks to cultivate a serene environment by encouraging citizens to abstain from unnecessary honking.

“In our efforts to raise awareness and create a positive impact, we aim to promote a serene and noise-free environment within our district. By observing a ‘No Honking Day,’ we encourage citizens to refrain from unnecessary honking and contribute to a quieter and more peaceful atmosphere,” said Jagdish Chelani, the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills.
