Itanagar, Nov 16: Two construction labourers were abducted by three armed cadres of the NSCN (K-YA) from a makeshift camp near the Tisa River in the Arunachal Pradesh Longding district on Wednesday.
The abducted labourers have been identified as Shashank Yadav of Uttar Pradesh and Lemgaw Gowam of Nginu village.
According to reports, they were working under Shatrughan Singh of the BTRF Project.
“The abduction took place at 4 a.m., following which the labourers were taken to Kunno zero point in a Bolero pickup truck. The vehicle was then disengaged at Kunnu, and the armed cadres reportedly moved towards the Indo-Myanmar border,” said a police source.
According to sources, the entire kidnapping was reportedly carried out by Ss. Lt.Col Botai Wangsu and Ss. Lt.Abojak Wangnow of the NSCN K-YA faction.
“The abduction was done for ransom. This is not the first time in Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier, many such incidents were reported from Longding district. The NSCN-KYA is active in Longding district, and time to time they are abducting contractors and labourers of construction companies for ransom money,” said a local resident Longding.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched a massive search and combing operation called Longding.
On October 29, 2023, two brothers were abducted by the NSCN (Ang Mai) faction from Kamhua Noksa village in Longding and demanded Rs 60 lakh for their safe release.
