Agartala, Aug 29: Emphasizing the vital link between peace and development, former Chief Minister of Tripura and current Member of Parliament (MP), Biplab Kumar Deb, asserted that hitting the streets cannot resolve issues in the North East region. He urged people to recognize that only through dialogues and peaceful means can progress be achieved.
Deb shared these insights during a press conference held at the state guest house in Agartala on Tuesday.
Deb, a Rajya Sabha member, underscored that the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to fostering the growth of the tribal population.
He maintained that peace serves as a fundamental prerequisite for the region’s development. Reflecting on the situation, Deb noted a change in perception among the region’s population.
The former CM explained that people have come to realize that dialogue is the path to attaining peace, in contrast to the notion that protesting on the streets can lead to resolution.
He also expressed confidence that the BJP will secure victories in both constituencies during the Tripura by-election. Deb attributed this anticipated success to the significant Motha vote that is likely to shift towards the BJP.
He suggested that the tribal community acknowledge the party’s dedication to tribal development.
Additionally, Deb shared his understanding of TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma’s perspective.
He noted that Pradyot is not advocating for a separate tribal state, rather his focused is on the holistic development of the tribal population. However, Deb pointed out that certain factions may manipulate this stance for political gain.
