TURA, April 19: The voting percentage for Tura Lok Sabha seat crossed the 76 percent mark by the time polls closed on April 19th evening which is a drop of 5 percent in comparison to the last Lok Sabha elections that took place in 2019 when Agatha K Sangma of the NPP trounced Mukul Sangma of the Congress by a margin of 64,000 votes in which polling was 81.38 percent.
But election officials are optimistic the final figure in voting percentage will rise further as several polling parties were yet to be reached with their figures.
Polling across 24 assembly segments that make up the Tura Lok Sabha seat have been successfully completed with no untoward incidents reported from any part of the region and available data from voting reveal that the poll percentage currently stands at 76.77 percent at the time of polls close.
This current polling percentage of 76.77 percent is almost similar to what took place in the 2014 general elections when Late Purno A Sangma (NPP) defeated Mukul Sangma’s son-in-law, Daryl William Cheran Momin of the Congress in which 78.13 percent of voting took place.
2014 Tura Lok Sabha Election voting:-
Agatha K Sangma (NPP) 52.22% of votes
Mukul Sangma (INC) 41.24%
Rikman Garrey Momin (BJP) 5.44%.
