Braving rains in Arunachal Pradesh 66 % voters turnout for Lok Sabha, 67 % for assembly polls

Itanagar, April 19: Nearly 66 per cent of voter turnout in two Lok Sabha seats and over 68.45 per cent for assembly polls. 8.92 lakh electors exercise their right in assembly polls and cast their votes amidst inclement weather. There are also reports of violence from few districts in Arunachal Pradesh.

According to reports, polling was delayed due non functional EVMS and voting resumed in the polling stations of three districts after the replacement of the voting machines and intervention from security forces.

Due to malfunctioning of EVMs in more than 10 polling stations, the voting got delayed and later the machines were replaced.

After casting his vote at in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Pema Khandu said that he is confident that BJP would form government in the state for the third consecutive term.

The elections for two Lok Sabha constituencies and 50 assembly seats were held across 2,226 polling stations from 7 a.m. Due to slow process of vote casting in several polling stations in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, the voting may continue upto midnight.

Over 67.45 per cent of the 8.92 lakh voters, including 4.54 lakh women, sealed the electoral fate of 133 candidates contesting for the 50 Assembly seats, and nearly 66 per cent electorate decide the electoral fate of 14 candidates in fray for the two Lok Sabha seats.
