Shillong, March 14: The Diengiei Durbar Area (DDA) in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong of Mawlaingut village on Tuesday organized a public rally to strongly denounce the brutal murder of Omega Myrthong, a resident of the Mawlaingut village in East Khasi Hills District.

On March 8, 2023, the remains of the deceased were found in different parts of the Umiam river in Ri-Bhoi district by the police officials of Umiam Police Station.

The DDA led the rally carrying black flags along with the Rangbah Shnong, Secretary Shnong, Asha workers, NGOs, the Driver Association of the Alto Tourist from Shilliangum Diengiei and Nongpoh, elderly people of the village, teachers, students, and many other villagers from Diengiei. They all shouted slogans demanding justice and condemning the murderers.

Following the program, a candlelight vigil was held to commemorate the deceased.
