Ranji Trophy: Meghalaya’s Raj Biswa scores century in Ranji Trophy plate group finale

Shillong, Feb 19: In a thrilling turn of events at the Ranji Trophy Plate Group finale, Raj Biswa of Meghalaya showcased his prowess by securing a century, amassing 100 runs on the third day of the match against Hyderabad.

Meghalaya delivered a stunning performance, accumulating 304 runs in their initial batting innings, only to be met with a formidable reply from Hyderabad, who posted a total of 350 runs.

In the subsequent innings on Monday, Meghalaya, batting again, managed to put up 243 runs, leaving them with a target of 198 runs to surpass Hyderabad’s total.

As the match progressed, Hyderabad reached a total of 71 runs with the loss of just one wicket. Meghalaya faces the daunting task of securing an additional 127 runs to clinch the coveted Ranji Trophy.

However, Rahul Singh Gahlaut displayed resilience, achieving a commendable half-century and continuing to battle it out on the field.

Raj Biswa’s remarkable innings came to an end when he was dismissed by Rishab Baslas, having scored a total of 100 runs, with an impressive initial contribution of 64 runs. Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva also played a pivotal role, chipping in with 81 runs to bolster Meghalaya’s innings.

With the match still hanging in the balance, Meghalaya remains hopeful, aiming to make early breakthroughs in Hyderabad’s batting lineup in the upcoming session to secure victory and claim the Ranji Trophy title for the year 2024.
