Rymbui says classes in School & Colleges to continue with adherence of safety protocols

Shillong, April 14: Education Minister Lakmen Rymbui on Wednesday said that institutions, including elementary schools will continue with adherence of Covid 19 protocols

In view of the rising Covid cases in the State, a meeting was convened with heads of various Institutions of both schools and colleges in Shillong.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of additional Chief Secretary in-charge of Education heard the views of the institutions regarding the Covid situation in the state.

Rymbui told the media that a decision has been taken to continue with the present system of conducting of both online and offline classes for college level.

For Higher Secondary Schools, decision has been taken to continue with present system of conducting both online and offline system.

For class 7 and 8, the committee has agreed that the present system provided by the schools is more than sufficient.

Regarding Class KG to class 5, a divided opinion arised, some suggest that the online system is not feasible option even in the urban areas.

Regarding conduct of examinations, Education Minister expressed that the examinations of these classes must go on as it will test the capacity and capabilities of the students.

The Government on Wednesday has also decided that the examination for class 10 will continue as per schedule.

The Government has decided that all the teachers should be vaccinated, the education department has communicated with the health department for the said matter. The Educational Minister said that the Government will review all the matters to see if there is any corrective steps to be taken by the Govt.

When asked about the dividend opinion on class KG to class 5, Education Minister said, many has expressed on the opinion that while taking online classes, parents has been helping with the homeworks and examinations of the students.

He also said that some schools has less number of students and it’s feasible for them to start with offline classes.
