Shillong, Aug 14: BJP legislator from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai celebrated his 58th birthday in a unique and heartwarming way by spending it with the children of Rilang Children’s Home in Nongshiliang, Nongthymmai.

Instead of indulging in personal celebrations, Shullai chose to distribute gifts to the children, managers, and staff of the home, reflecting his long-standing tradition of using his birthday to give back to those in need.

During the celebration, Shullai announced a generous donation of Rs 7 lakhs from his MLA Charitable fund to construct a basketball court within the children’s home.

The legislator said, “Since childhood, I’ve never spent money on personal birthday celebrations. Instead, I’ve always preferred to spend it on those in need. While most people expect gifts on their birthdays, I find joy in distributing gifts to children and well-wishers in my constituency.”

This gesture was met with appreciation from the attendees, including the Director of Rilang Children’s Home, Rev. Fr. James Thyrniang, and Additional SP Traffic, Macjoel Marngar.
