Sawkmie blames Congress High Command for 12 MLAs quitting party

Must read

Shillong, Nov 26: Mawlai Constituency MLA PT Sawkmie on Thursday appealed to 12 Congress MLAs to return back to the party and resolve all differences.

“I will try to convince them to return back to the party,” Sawkmie told reporters.

He however said that it is difficult to understand the reasons which have compelled Dr. Mukul Sangma along with the 11 other MLAs to leave the party and join TMC.

He also admitted that such exodus will no doubt affect the five Congress legislators.

Sawkmie said that the Congress High Command should have taken serious note on this issue from the beginning.

“If proper initiative would have been taken right from the beginning this exodus would have been avoided,” said Sawkmie.

He also stated that this must be a lesson for everyone that no one should be taken for granted for any issue and this exodus today indicates the High Command failed to recognise the rumblings within the party in the state. He added that the High Command should have consulted Dr. Mukul before appointing Vincent Pala as the MPCC president and if both parties agreed on this, the exodus would have not taken place.

“Even Dr. Mukul who has been with the party for so many years yet he has never expressed his desire to leave the party which indicates that there might be misunderstanding or lack of respect between two party,” he added.
