Scholarships for students to be released in next two weeks: Edu Min Rakkam A. Sangma

Shillong, Nov 21: Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma informed that scholarships for students are likely to be released within the next one-two weeks.

Speaking to reporters, Sangma said, “The post matric scholarship is sponsored by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs on a 90:10 basis and from the state government all processes have been completed and we have sent our UCs and we are expecting the scholarship to be released in the next one-two weeks.”

“Once the fund is released by the ministry, we will immediately ensure that it is transferred to the students’ accounts,” he said.

Sangma said that the department has received complaints that many students are yet to get their scholarships for various reasons. He informed that last Friday, the officers of the department held a meeting with the bank representatives on the matter.

“We have instructed the banks to give us all the complexities of issues with regards to their bank accounts as many students’ bank accounts are incorrect, IFSC incorrect, and some issues. We have requested the banks to give us all this information so that we can intimate the concerned students. This is the status as of now and we are expecting to complete the process in next 2-3 weeks,” he said.
