Tura, May 30: The day 2 of the School Games 2025 brought a flurry of healthy competition across various disciplines, with badminton and basketball reaching their semi-final stages despite challenging weather in Tura.
The Indoor Sports Hall in Hawakhana buzzed with excitement as the badminton tournament kicked off on Friday. Fifteen schools are vying for the coveted trophy, with matches played in both Under-15 and Under-17 categories for boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles. All semi-final rounds for badminton were successfully completed.

Meanwhile, basketball enthusiasts braved the rain, with their semi-final rounds also concluding on the day. The stage is now set for an exciting finale in basketball. In the girls’ category, the final will see St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School take on Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura. For the boys, the championship match will feature a clash between Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Rongkhon.
The first-ever School Games 2025 officially commenced on Thursday at the Matchakolgre L.P School field. The three-day event has drawn an impressive participation of around 500 students from 17 schools across Tura, vying to compete in five sports disciplines: Taekwondo, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, and Badminton.
