Guwahati, Mar 15: Senior Congress leader and MP from Barpeta constituency in Assam, Abdul Khaleque has resigned from the primary membership of Congress after he was denied ticket from the party.
Khaleque submitted a two-page resignation letter, which was addressed to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge.
In his letter to the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, he wrote that he resigned from the party membership, due to the approach taken by the party’s state President and AICC General Secretary in-charge, he alleged that the approach has ruined the prospect of the party in Assam.
In the resignation letter, the MP claimed that the party has taken a “strange route” in the state, where “people-centric issues have taken a back seat”.
