Shillong, Nov 12: The Shyntor Festival 2025, an eco-cultural celebration blending art, music and sustainability, will be held from December 11 to 13 at Shyntor Bulia Village in Ri-Bhoi District.
Organized by the Rongjeng Welfare Foundation (RWF) in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong Shyntor, Online Tent Service Centre and Jharna Foundation, the festival seeks to promote rural tourism, cultural preservation and community-led development through an immersive experience of Meghalaya’s heritage.

Situated about 25 km from Nongpoh along the GS Road, Shyntor Bulia — a village of 65 households between the Umsiang and Umsha rivers will transform into a vibrant festival space. Around 200 visitors from across India and abroad are expected to stay in eco-friendly alpine tents, bamboo huts and community-managed campsites, experiencing village life up close.

Tickets are now available across major towns in Meghalaya and neighbouring states, with organizers anticipating strong turnout from travellers, music enthusiasts and culture lovers.
The three-day event will showcase sand animation, ventriloquism, storytelling, traditional music and bonfire jam sessions. A seven-day Art Residency Programme will run alongside, featuring artists from Meghalaya and other parts of India. The festival will also host handloom and bamboo craft exhibitions, weaving demonstrations, friendly football matches, and culinary showcases of tribal cuisines, live cooking demos and community feasts featuring local produce.
For adventure seekers, riverside treks, forest trails and nearby waterfalls will offer a taste of the region’s natural beauty.
“The Shyntor Festival is not just about art and music — it’s about empowering communities, sustaining growth, and celebrating culture responsibly,” said an RWF spokesperson.
Beyond the festivities, the initiative aims to launch a year-long community development programme to generate sustainable livelihoods for villagers. Organized in close partnership with the Dorbar Shnong Shyntor Bulia, the festival ensures the local community is central to every aspect — from planning and design to hospitality and performance.
Supported by Ri-Bhoi district authorities, the festival promotes responsible tourism as a model for inclusive and sustainable development in Meghalaya.
