Imphal, June 25: Situation is tense but under control in some places with some sporadic incidents but normal in most districts of Manipur. Meanwhile, state police and central forces conducted patrolling, flag marches, and search operations in vulnerable areas.
“During the last 24 (twenty-four) hours, State Police and Central forces conducted search operation in Tamenglong, Imphal-East, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Kakching Districts. In the search operations, 12 (twelve) bunkers were destroyed in various districts both in the Hill and the Valley,” a press release stated.
It further stated, “Further, during the search, 03 (three) 51mm mortar shells and 03 (three) 84 mm mortar shells were found in the paddy field of Sahumphai village and 01 (one) IED was found in a paddy field between Kangvai and S. Kotlian villages. The mortar shells and IED were demolished at the spot by the State Bomb Disposal Team.”
Manipur Police has arrested 135 persons in connection with curfew violations, theft in abandoned houses, arson cases, etc. Flag marches, area domination and cordon and search operations are continuing in various parts of the State.
A total of 1100 arms, 13,702 ammunitions and 250 bombs of different kinds have been recovered till date.
Appeal has also been made to general public to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy to the state, to clarify any rumour by dialling rumour free number – 9233522822 of Central Control room, and also to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immediately.
