Itanagar, Feb 28: Arunachal police apprehended six Burmese nationals on Tuesday suspected to have crossed the international border illegally.

Anjaw Superintendent of Police, Riki Kamsi said that the Burmese national were held with six kilograms of mushroom, utensils and Rs. 68,000 in cash hand.

Police has registered a case at Hawai police station.

Police say that the arrested individuals from Putou town in Myanmar have been staying in Indian territory for weeks or even months.

Kamsi said the Burmese nationals entered Indian territory while collecting mushrooms, following a route used by the Indian army for border patrolling.

According to the FIR, the arrest mentions seven Burmese nationals camping in various villages, engaging in the extraction of rare medicinal plants, herbs, and mushrooms, along with hunting wild animals.

The Indian Army has been informed, and a joint interrogation with the SIB (Strategic Intelligence Branch) is scheduled. The investigation aims to determine their reported camp and whether others are present in the area.
