State Chief Electoral Officer highlights on election preparedness for the 3rd Phase Lok Sabha Polls

Guwahati, May 6: Assam goes for polls on 7th May for the 3rd Phase of Lok Sabha in this regard Anurag Goyal, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state, briefed the media on strategies for the four constituencies set to go to polls in this phase at Dispur’s Janata Bhawan

CEO Goyal shed light on the election preparedness logistical arrangements for conducting smooth and fair elections. He stated, that “Guwahati is the smallest constituency in terms of area, while Kokrajhar stands as the largest constituency in the region.”

A total of 9,516 polling stations have been set up to facilitate the electoral process during the third phase. The electorate for this phase comprises 81,49,091 individuals, comprising 41,00,544 male voters, 40,48,436 female voters, and 111 voters identified as the third gender. There are 1,529 voters aged above 100 years, reflecting the diverse demographic of the electorate.


Dhubri constituency has the highest number of voters at 26,60,827. Kokrajhar constituency has the lowest number of 14,84,571 voters.

Barpeta constituency has 19,66,847 voters and Guwahati constituency has 20,36,846 voters.

Over 3,000 EVMs, over 3,000 VVPATAs and over 3,000 Control Units have been additionally kept ready for 4 constituencies.

There are a total of 47 candidates in 4 constituencies.

In 4 constituencies 326 polling stations will be manned by women and there will be 84 model polling stations.

In addition, CEO Goyal informed the about the inclusion of 2,10,177 new voters across the four constituencies.

Also there will be a web cast at 5266 polling stations.
