MDA government spokesperson and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Monday said the government is committed towards the peace talks with the banned militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
Addressing media persons after a consultation meeting with leaders from Jaintia Hills region, Lyngdoh said, “I am here with the agenda of the party and we stick by that and we dispel the myth that we are synonymous with BJP".
The Jaintia Hills leader consultation was held at State Convention centre which witnessed the attendance of all the NPP MLAs from the Jaintia Hills region.
Despite Meghalaya being a matrilineal society, the state has recorded 58 per cent cases involving sexual offences. Police statistics show that the crime against women in on the rise, and most of those cases are related to sexual assault.
