The Assam Legislative Assembly has passed a historic order by changing its rules to discard the age-old practice of adjourning sessions for 2 hours on Friday to offer Namaz, called ‘Jumma break’.
Two opposition Congress MLAs of Assam Assembly were briefly suspended on Friday as they did not listen to the Speaker's ruling and continued to raise issues regarding anomalies in the Education Department.
The opposition, led by Congress, boycotted Governor's speech after the opposition leaders were not provided with the speech copy. The opposition MLAs also protested outside the Assembly with several issues holding placards before the session began.
