Students of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Tura Campus came together to pay heartfelt homage to legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away on September 16 in Singapore while attending the NorthEast Festival.
The organisers of the Northeast Festival in Singapore have announced the cancellation of the event following the sudden death of Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg. The 52-year-old singer passed away on September 19 after suffering seizures while swimming during a yacht trip.
Born Zubeen Borthakur on November 18, 1972, in Tura, Meghalaya, Zubeen Garg went on to become one of the most influential voices of Assam and the Northeast. A singer–songwriter, composer, actor, and philanthropist, he left behind a legacy that transcended borders and languages.
