In a significant move towards preserving the rich heritage of the Khasi community, the Research and Development Committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) convened its inaugural meeting on Monday.
Demonstrating his commitment to this initiative, CEM Syiem himself attended a recent Special Session using a two-wheeler, citing the prevalent traffic in the city.

In a massive drive against shops operating illegally in Ri Bhoi district, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), along with the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) and Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), conducted a thorough inspection of trading licenses in the Khanapara and Byrnihat area of Ri Bhoi District on Friday.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting held between the KHADC chief Pyniaid Sing Syiem and KAAC chief Dr Tuliram Ronghang in the presence of Karbi Anglong MP Horen Singh Bey. The meeting was also attended by the executive members from both the autonomous councils.
