he Joint Movement Committee for Corridor from Blaurghat-Hili - Mahendraganj-Tura (Meghalaya) through Bangladesh (JACCBHMT) has urged the Centre to connect Baljek airport in Tura with Kolkata via Balurghat, West Bengal in the greater interest of tourism and economic development of the North East region and Balurghat-Hili in West Bengal.

The Mahendraganj police have arrested 3 people on the charges of robbing a man of cash besides threatening him, late in the night of July 11, 2023.
