Tura, Oct 9: A group of timber smugglers from Mahendraganj has been detained on Friday evening along with one Bolero pick-up, whose registration number is ML 14, 5529, by the Civil Society A, Chik Welfare Organisations (CSAWO).
Reportedly, the vehicle was carrying a full load of timber logs, purportedly stolen from Mahendraganj Forest Ranges.
According to the CSAWO, a group of timber smugglers was detained by them, but the accused was on the run from the clutches of the organisation.
They intercepted a group of timber smugglers attempting to move illegal timber from Mahendraganj Forest Ranges to another 9.
