The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Monday expelled its MLA candidate and working president from Mairang for alleged anti-party activities.

The National People's Party (NPP) MP candidate for Shillong parliamentary seat, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, kicked off her first campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on Thursday.

A person, accused of being allegedly involved in the Mairang teenager’s sexual assault case, was found dead on Tuesday morning at Lawbyetun, Eastern West Khasi Hills District.

In a highly disturbing incident, a class 12 student from Mairang was brutally attacked by unknown miscreants while she was returning home from school. The female student's face was attacked by a rock, and the attackers also threatened to slit her throat. Presently, the student is receiving medical treatment at Civil Hospital, Shillong.

The Mairang-Ranigodown-Azra Road will serve as an alternate route connecting Eastern West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi Districts to Guwahati city and its airport areas.
