Meanwhile, joint forces of the Army, Rapid Action Forces and state police, Assam Rifles undertook a Flag March in Imphal East district till Friday midnight.
Six student and youth organisations on Friday asked claification from the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) to clear its stand on the claims made by the militant outfit United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) that the outlawed group that they backed the BJP candidates in Manipur 2017 assembly elections.
The statement read, "We are deeply concerned about the continuing ethnic violence in Manipur between the Meitei community and the tribal Kuki and Zo communities. We demand an immediate halt to this violence that is causing large scale disruption of lives, livelihoods and properties and unleashing even more terror among people".
According to reports, the incident is said to have occurred at around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday night, after a huge mob of miscreants stormed R K Ranjan Singh's residential gate.
