The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills has banned heavy loaded vehicles exceeding nine tons from using a stretch of road in the district, citing safety concerns.
Deputy Chief Minister in charge of PWD, Prestone Tynsong, has assured the repair of the dilapidated bridge at Mawlyndep, which connects Lad Umsaw to Mawmaram, within one month.
The order said the plying of overloaded vehicles carrying more than 9 Tons has damaged portions of the road and poses danger and threat to villagers/pedestrians due to the narrow width of the road
