The Government has decided to release an advance share of royalties to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) to clear 12 months of pending salaries.
The leaders of the employees association met with the Chief Executive Member of the GHADC Albinush Marak who later addressed the staff in a meeting in the premises of the council.
A meeting of the employees association is scheduled to take place on Monday in Tura where the leaders will spell out their next step of agenda with all indications towards a strike by the staff that will effectively shut down the functioning of the oldest political institution in the Garo Hills.
