Mairang Legislator and former Meghalaya Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh was re-elected as the President of the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Saturday.
Mawthoh said that North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) had convened a meeting with all regional political parties once in the past for discussing the development issues of the region.
However, the eight observations are kept “confidential” till the time they are presented before the Expert Committee – constituted by the government to review the job reservation policy – for its examination.
The United Democratic Party (UDP) is all set to nominate its new president during the general council meeting to be held on July 29 even as incumbent chief Metbah Lyngdoh said that he is leaving it to the party to decide on whether he should continue to lead the party.
Chyne told reporters that the appointment of the nominated MDC was based on an agreement made with the NPP in 2019, when (L) Dr Donkupar Roy was president of the UDP and was Assembly Speaker.
A notification issued by the Secretary of the KHADC said that the Chairman Lamphrang Blah has recognized Chyne as the LO of the KHADC with effect from June 20.
The close proximity between the Congress and the NPP has created a sense of unhappiness among the UDP, a key ally in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government.
