West Garo Hills district administration has extended the curfew imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) following incidents of violence and disturbance of public peace in the region.
The North Garo Hills district administration banned weapons, unlawful assemblies and group movement toward West Garo Hills, where a curfew is in force, citing credible inputs that travel through the district could escalate violence.
The administration of West Garo Hills on Monday imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew in 37 villages identified as "sensitive areas" in the district after protest by NGOs opposing non‑tribal participation in GHADC nominations.
