Itanagar, Jan 20: In a major development along the Indo-China international border, a 17-year-old boy from a border village of Arunachal Pradesh has allegedly been abducted by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from near the McMahon line, the imaginary border between India and China in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Indian Army sources have confirmed that the incident happened on January 18, 2022. Arunachal Pradesh government sources also confirmed that New Delhi has been informed about the incident and added that the boy was part of a group of local hunters who had gone to the area close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC)
The matter came to light after a Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday claimed that a 17-year-old youth, identified as on Miram Taron, has been ‘abducted’ ‘from inside Indian territory’.
Tapir Gao, Member of Parliament from East Arunachal Pradesh, claimed that the youth was ‘abducted’ on Tuesday from Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district.
He claimed that China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had abducted the youth where the Tsangpo River enters India in Arunachal Pradesh.
He tweeted, “Chinese PLA has abducted Sh Miram Taron, 17 years of Zido vill. yesterday 18th Jan 2022 from inside Indian territory, Lungta Jor area (China-built 3-4 km road inside India in 2018) under Siyungla area (Bushing village) of Upper Siang dist., Arunachal Pradesh.”

In 2018, it was the same Bishing village area where a standoff with Chinese PLA, Chinese construction workers and Indian Army and Indian villagers happened when the Chinese had tried to build a road well inside the Indian territory.
Last year, five men from Tagin tribe, who used to work as porters for Indian Army, had gone missing from Upper Subansiri district in September 2020. Later, after 10 days, China handed them back to India.
