Tura, Jul 28: Chada United Sports Association (CUSA) and Seltang Football Club booked their places in the Tura Football League (TFL) 2026-27 Second Division final after convincing wins in their respective semi-finals on Tuesday at the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Playground in Chandmary, Tura.
CUSA got the better of Chitoktak Football Club 4-1 in the opening semi-final with a composed attacking performance.
Irish Marak broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute before Balsan Sangma doubled the lead four minutes later, giving CUSA a comfortable 2-0 advantage at the break.
Chitoktak tried to fight back after Donebi S. Sangma scored in the 63rd minute, but the response was immediate. Irish Marak struck again just a minute later to restore CUSA’s two-goal cushion, and Donabal Marak wrapped up the win with a fourth goal in the 77th minute. Atmosh Marak of CUSA was shown a yellow card in the 61st minute.
The second semi-final was even more one-sided as Seltang FC thrashed Dakopgre Youth Sports and Cultural Club 5-0.
Niksam N. Sangma gave Seltang the perfect start with a goal in the third minute. Kennybirth Marak then took over, scoring twice in the 13th and 26th minutes to put his side firmly in control before half-time.
He completed his hat-trick immediately after the restart in the 45th minute, while Lambai Sangma added the fifth in the 53rd minute to cap off a dominant display. Dakopgre YSCC’s Easter R. Marak received a yellow card in the 27th minute.
The two emphatic victories set up a mouth-watering Second Division final between CUSA and Seltang FC.
Meanwhile, the First Division competition has entered its closing stages, with the quarter-finals nearing completion and the semi-finals set to follow soon.
Organisers have announced that the finals of both the First and Second Divisions will be played on August 6, promising a full day of football at the GBHSS Playground in Chandmary.
The day’s action also saw an unexpected visitor, as Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma made an unplanned stop at the venue during the closing stages of the second semi-final.
