CM inspects GBHSS football ground, assures infrastructure upgrades

Tura, July 28: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma made an unannounced visit to the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Playground in Chandmary on Tuesday, where he carried out a spot inspection of the football venue during the closing stages of the Tura Football League (TFL) Second Division semi-final.

Arriving towards the end of the day’s final match, the Chief Minister took stock of the existing sports infrastructure and conducted a brief on-site evaluation of the facility.

During the visit, Sangma held discussions with officials accompanying him and representatives of the District Football Association (DFA), Tura, on the current condition of the ground, identifying infrastructure gaps and assessing improvements needed to enhance the venue.

He also interacted with Saljagring M. Marak, President of the District Football Association, Tura, who also serves as the District Sports Officer of East Garo Hills and Assistant Director in the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, along with other DFA members present at the ground.

The Chief Minister personally examined issues relating to the fencing, boundary enclosure and gallery stands surrounding the artificial football turf. He assured those present that the government would work towards further developing and strengthening the sports infrastructure at the venue.
